The Grub Family Story

Meet the Grub Family

Welcome to the warm and wonderful world of The Grub Family, a little family with big hearts, simple adventures, and plenty of love to share.

Living in their cozy underground home, the Grub Family enjoys many of the same things families everywhere enjoy—sharing meals, helping one another, going to work, visiting the dentist, shopping at the Grub Mart, saying bedtime prayers, and spending time together.

At the heart of the family are Gus and Gertie Grub. Gus is a caring father who works hard, enjoys preparing dinner, and always tries to make home a happy place. Gertie is a loving mother who watches over the children and brings warmth, patience, and kindness to the Grub household.

Then there are the Grub children, including Pip, Millie, and Benny, each with their own personality and adventures. Whether they are playing together, learning something new, visiting the dentist, or getting ready for bed, there is rarely a dull moment in the Grub home.

The stories of the Grub Family are about more than funny little grubs living underground. They are stories about family, kindness, courage, faith, responsibility, friendship, and learning from everyday experiences.

Sometimes the adventures are exciting. Sometimes they are funny. And sometimes they are as simple as sitting around the dinner table or saying a prayer before going to sleep. But through every story runs the same message:

The little moments we share with the people we love can become some of life’s greatest treasures.

So come along and meet Gus, Gertie, Pip, Millie, Benny, and the rest of their friends and family.

There is always something happening beneath the garden…

And you are always welcome in The Grub Family.

Gussie an Gertie meet and get married

Here’s a warm little story for The Grub Family.

How Gussie and Gertie Grub Met and Got Married

Deep beneath the soft green grass, where the roots twisted through the earth and tiny tunnels led from one cozy grub home to another, lived a cheerful young grub named Gussie Grub.

Gussie was known all around the underground village for two things: his big smile and his terrible sense of direction.

One morning, Gussie set out to visit the Grub Mart for a sack of fresh roots and a jar of sweet clover jelly. Somewhere between Tunnel Three and the old potato patch, he took a wrong turn.

Instead of reaching the store, he bumped right into a young grub carrying a basket of mushrooms.

“Oh!” cried Gussie as the mushrooms rolled everywhere.

“Oh dear!” said the young grub.

Gussie quickly gathered them up.

“I’m very sorry,” he said. “I seem to have gotten lost.”

The young grub laughed.

“You must be Gussie Grub. Everyone says you are always getting lost.”

Gussie grinned.

“And you must be the grub who knows everything about everybody.”

“My name is Gertie,” she replied.

That was the beginning.

After that day, Gussie suddenly found many reasons to wander near the mushroom tunnel. Sometimes he brought Gertie a clover blossom. Sometimes she shared a slice of turnip cake with him. They walked through the underground gardens, visited friends, and talked for hours.

Gussie loved Gertie’s gentle heart and cheerful laugh.

Gertie loved Gussie’s kindness and the way he could make everyone smile, even when things went wrong.

One evening, Gussie asked Gertie to meet him beneath the old oak root.

He had decorated the tunnel with tiny glowing beetle lamps and placed wildflower petals along the ground.

Gussie took a deep breath.

“Gertie,” he said, “I may not always know where I’m going, but I know I want to go through life with you.”

Gertie smiled.

Then Gussie held out a tiny ring made from a polished seed shell.

“Will you marry me?”

Gertie’s eyes filled with happy tears.

“Yes, Gussie Grub. I will.”

The whole underground village soon heard the news.

Their wedding was held in the Great Root Hall beneath the oldest tree in the meadow. Everyone came. There were mushroom pies, clover cakes, root stew, and more turnip pudding than anyone could eat.

Gertie wore a beautiful veil made from soft white flower petals.

Gussie wore his best brown jacket, although he had somehow managed to put one button in the wrong hole.

When they stood together and promised to love and care for one another, all the grubs cheered.

After the ceremony, Gussie and Gertie danced beneath the glowing beetle lights while their friends clapped and laughed.

Years later, whenever their children asked how they met, Gertie would smile and say,

“Your father got lost.”

And Gussie would always reply,

“No, I didn’t. I finally found exactly where I was supposed to be.”

And from that day forward, Gussie and Gertie Grub built a happy little home together beneath the meadow, filled with laughter, love, and many wonderful family adventures.
